Seasoning
Seasoning your steel
Steel Chef steel cookware will ship out of our Minnesota location once it has gone through our proprietary preparation process. Once the steel is vigorously cleaned it is then prepped for transit to your location. Once you receive your steel, we recommend you follow our seasoning process. Below is the recommend seasoning procedure.
The goal behind seasoning steel is the same as a cast iron skillet. Over time you will get a darker and darker look to your steel. This is what accents the foods taste as well as help the steel maintain its non-stick properties.

-
Evenly spread the oil on the TOP SIDE ONLY of the Steel using a lint free cloth until there is a light coat on your steels surface. The oil will protect the steel from rust.
-
Let the oil cook in for about 15 minutes.
- After the 15 minutes expires, we recommend cooking a greasy food such as bacon on the steel. As it cooks you will want to spread the grease all over the top of the steel to help with the seasoning process. Do not overload with food on your first-time use
